Following the latest government advice about COVID-19, it is with great regret that many of our events through to August 2020 have been postponed or cancelled. The Hanover Band is seeking ways to keep performing as government restrictions begin to lift.

The global pandemic has affected us all, not least our musicians, who have suffered so many cancellations and postponement of work.

It has been necessary to cancel some events, however we have postponed a further 8 concerts and workshops.

Please see full list of affected events here below.

(Further details will be issued shortly and will be made available on individual event pages as soon as practicable.)

All our musicians are self-employed; whilst postponed concerts mean that their fees will eventually be paid when the concert takes place, for those concerts that are cancelled, the players, choir and soloists will not be paid.

As CEO of the Orchestra I am responsible for the mental health and wellbeing of our freelance musicians. Hence, our immediate plans are to establish a Musicians’ Support Fund in order to:

a.  meet the fees payable to Players, Choir and Soloists for the concert on Good Friday and;

b.  make funds available to those musicians who suffer hardship whilst waiting for postponed and future work.

Donations can be made by sending a cheque to:

‘The Hanover Band Foundation’

or by transferring funds directly to the Foundation

Our concerts scheduled for the summer and autumn will go ahead, subject of course to the relaxation of present Government advice, and regular updates will be posted on this website.

We will continue working to raise new funds, create new programmes and events to ensure that The Hanover Band comes through these extraordinary circumstances.

Beethoven once said: “I will seize fate by the throat; it shall certainly never wholly overcome me” an attitude that we intend to uphold.  Thank you so much for your support, both now and in the future.

We look forward to seeing you when our musical life together returns to something like normality.
