Celebrating Schubert on his 225th Anniversary (1797-2022)

This season The Hanover Band are delighted to be performing a series of live, Summer Concerts at The Arundel Festival in August 2022, including a welcome return to the collaboration with The Royal College of Music at St. Leonard’s Church, South Stoke and of course our Festival Concert on the 27th August at St. Nicholas Church, Arundel.

Members of The Band will be performing at Borgo di Carpiano, Italy in October, an idyllic retreat set in the picturesque setting of the Umbrian countryside.  Following this, we are delighted to have been invited to perform at Buckingham Palace on October 27th where we will be performing Vivaldi Gloria and the Pergolesi Stabat Mater, in an event hosted by HRH The Duke of Kent.

We continue the season to explore the rich sounds of the 1800’s celebrating the 225th anniversary of Schubert’s birth with ‘SCHUBERT IN THE CITY’ – 9 Schubert Symphonies, performed in 9 Livery Halls, played over 9 months – across across the heart of the City of London: September 2022 to July 2023.

‘SCHUBERT IN THE CITY’ was launched at Mansion House in December 2021 in the presence of the Hanover Band’s Patron HRH The Duke of Kent, and The Lord Mayor of London.  The Hanover Band will be performing Schubert Symphonies, additionally including Schubert’s infamous ‘Ave Maria’, with concerts offering exciting opportunities for young people to discover Schubert – beginning on Monday 26 September 2022.

To celebrate St. Cecilia, The Patron Saint of Music, we will be performing at Stationers’ Hall on 19th and 20th November 2022. This weekend of concerts have always been a highlight of our autumn programme.  We will of course be back at St. Nicholas Church, Arundel in December 2022 for the annual Messiah, and next year on Good Friday for the St. John Passion.
